We begin with a phone call or onsite meeting. This is an opportunity for us to discover the general expectations and goals of client and designer. If the project is not local, then photos will be needed to discuss what changes or improvements are desired.
After Laura has had a chance to understand which services are needed to fulfill goals, she will provide a written proposal.
While each proposal is unique to each project, some common services include those listed below.
A scale plan of the project site, includes all existing and future elements of the design, without finish details. Plants, colors, tiles, fixtures and other materials to finish project are not part of this phase. Basically this is the layout, and changes can easily be made without extra charges. This will include inspiration photos, and a meeting, either on line or in person. Discussions will include style, colors, finish options, and other details.
Once the design has been approved by the client, the scope of work will be created, and all the details will be added to the plan. The scope of work will be a step by step description of the installations details, to complete the design, from demolition to completion, and in the order the work should be done. This will include quantities, sizes and list of finish materials or other components.
There will be line-item pricing for each step of the scope of work. The prices will be obtained from skilled installers, so that clients have a realistic understanding of costs involved, and can budget accordingly.
Each plant on the plan will be identified by Latin names and options will be provided for each plant type. This will include quantities, sizes and costs for the plants to be shopped, delivered and placed on the project in the exact location it should be planted.
Placement and selection of lighting fixtures, switches, transformers and wire sizing will be drawn on a separate plan.
Laura is available to manage the project, by assisting with the selection of the installers/contractor, comparing bids, providing samples of materials, scheduling, on site consultations or meetings.
Laura is licensed by the California state agriculture department as a plant broker, and could provide ornamental plants for any project in any quantity. CDFA License #B0102.002. She has access to growers state wide. If there is a specific plant you want, chances are she can find it.
